The DATRON Diamond end mill is best for machining composites such as fiberglass and carbon fiber.
The DATRON diamond end mill range is the best choice for high-speed machining applications in hard materials such as abrasive composites. The Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) cutting edge of the tool is extremely hard and wear resistant, allowing for dramatically extended tool life in production composite applications.
The hard, wear resistant diamond cutting edge also provides excellent surface finishes, often removing the need for secondary finishing processes in difficult to machine materials.
DATRON diamond tool lifespan has been demonstrated to last 25x longer than carbide end mills in abrasive composite applications. This provides a lower total cost per part in production environments.
DATRON diamond milling tools are also well matched to applications requiring extremely long tool life such as in MDF, compacted laminate panels, plywood, and chipboard production. When machining compacted laminate panels, up to 100x tool life using PCD end mills has been demonstrated when compared to carbide tooling.
DATRON diamond milling tools are not compatible with ferrous materials as the carbon from the diamond will react with the iron content and cause the diamond cutting edge to degrade
