The DATRON stepped double flute end mill with edge radius is best for fast roughing as well as high quality finishing in soft metals, plastics and wood.

Stepped geometry tools have a cutting diameter that is greater than the shank diameter of the tools. DATRON stepped end mills are an excellent choice for high speed roughing of material using high feed, large stepover toolpath strategies and shallow depths of cut.

High feed strategies are recommended when using vacuum work holding, such as the DATRON vacuum work holding system. High feed milling does not apply the axial pulling load on the workpiece that is present when using full depth adaptive/trochoidal milling strategies on higher helix end mills. This assists the vacuum system to keep the workpiece secure and stable during machining.

These versatile end mills are also ideal as a face milling tool for providing excellent surface finishes on flat surfaces. The double flute geometry minimises vibration, allows for superior surface finishes and longer spindle life.

The edge radius geometry reduces deflection of the tool during face finishing operations caused by the cutting edge gouging into the material. Rounded cutting edges are also resistant to chipping, providing a longer usable tool life.

DATRON CNC tooling is developed and manufactured by DATRON in Germany using the highest quality, micro-grain VHM carbide.
